American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) makes a whole range of trucks based on the Ram 2500 chassis and drivetrain. The new Prospector XL Tray Bed combines a short single cab with a roomy aluminum tray for cargo and serious off-road equipment.
The standard upgrade package starts around the $30,000 mark and includes a 3-inch DualSport suspension kit, fender flares and 17-inch Katla wheels shod in 40-inch BFG Goodrich tires. The steering wheel benefits from a hydraulic upfit, and a new front bumper is installed along with a Warn winch. The cargo bed can be illuminated with LEDs, and the rear bumper can be made smaller for better overlanding performance.
There is a slew of paid options and accessories on the list, too, including a bull bar, a protective paint coat, fold-up running boards, reservoir shocks and many others. Those who want it may have their stock engine swapped for a Cummins diesel.
AEV plans on making only 10 such cars. The base package on a base truck would set you back $90,000, but the company will prioritize richer specs, so you would probably end up having to hand over about twice as much to get on the list.
