The purpose of Project 2 & 4 is to demonstrate the unlimited creativity of Honda staff. It is known that Honda’s motorcycle design center in Asaka and Honda’s automotive design center in Wako, Japan have collaborated to create the new Project 2 & 4. In fact, Project 2&4 is the design that won the top prize in an internal competition between Honda brand studios around the world.

According to Honda, Project 2 & 4 was designed with inspiration from its 1965 Formula 1 racing car, codenamed RA271. It can be said that Honda Project 2 & 4 has a design quite similar to Ariel Atom. However, Honda Project 2 & 4 will not have a cockpit and only come with 1 seat. This design allows Honda Project 2&4 to “combine the freedom of a motorcycle with the performance and convenience of an automobile”.

At the recent demonstration at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Honda Project 2&4 used the engine of the MotoGP racing car, RC213V. The 4-stroke, 4-cylinder, mid-mounted, 999 cc engine of the Honda RC213V possesses a maximum engine speed of up to 14,000 rpm. The engine produces a maximum capacity of more than 212 horsepower at 13,000 rpm and maximum torque of 118 Nm at 10,500 rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear axle through a 6-speed DCT gearbox.

If you only listen to it, it is hard for anyone to believe that the engine of a racing car will help Project 2 & 4 have impressive performance. But it should also be noted that in fact Honda Project 2 & 4 is only 3,040 mm long, 1,820 mm wide, 995 mm high and weighs only 405 kg.
