Find out why the 1963 Ferrari 250 GT0 is the most costly car in the world.

Ferrari 250 GT0 1963 silver color, “Picasso of the racing car world”, is considered by car collectors to be the most expensive car in the world, priced at 70 million USD. Hidden deep in that huge number is a very special story, few people know and special incentives for the owner of this car.

The information that the 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO was auctioned in 2018 attracted the attention of many people because of its “terrible” price: 70 million USD!!! To make it easy to imagine, among the supercars released in the past 10 years, the most expensive is the 2020 Bugatti La Voiture Noire, but it is also “only” priced at 18 million USD.

Why is an antique car so expensive?

With an extremely long history, it is understandable why the car is so expensive. The main reasons are explained as follows:

Firstly, this 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO is one of 39 Ferrari 250 GTOs produced by the engineering team led by Mr. Giotto Bizzarrini. Before going into the official test, the car has been perfected the design in the wind tunnel.

Second, this is also the 250 GTO Series 1 with chassis number 4153 GT that first debuted at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1963. In this race it took 4th place. Not long after. Thereafter, the car went on to win the Tour de France in 1964 and was recognized as one of the three or four best GTOs in the world.

Third, the car is developed based on the Ferrari 250 GT SWB model. At the same time, it also carries unmistakable features such as a tubular steel frame and a 3.0-liter V12 engine that produces a maximum capacity of 300 horsepower.

This is also the engine taken from the Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa with power being transmitted through a five-speed manual transmission. Thanks to that, the Ferrari 250 GTO can reach a maximum speed of 280 km / h.

Fourth, much of the equipment of the Ferrari 250 GTO was borrowed from the Fiat 500 of the same period.

Fifth, every billionaire wants to own this prestigious car. The model is likened to the “Picasso of the racing car world”.
With the above attractive reasons, the price of Ferrari 250 GTO increases continuously year after year. During the past 30 years, the price of cars has increased by about 30% each year.

In May 2012, the Ferrari 250 GTO was auctioned for an all-time record price of $38.11 million. Then the car again achieved this record in 2018 with an “unbelievable” amount of $ 70 million (equivalent to VND 1,600 billion).

According to collector Marcel Massini, a Ferrari 250 GTO will sell for in excess of $100 million within the next five years.

Owning a Ferrari 250 GTO has given its owner access to a secret invite-only club of 250 GTO owners in different versions.
