Ford F-650/F-750 Super Duty commercial medium-duty trucks are manufactured by Ford Motor Company. They were introduced by Ford in 2000, replacing the previous generation F-600, F-700, F-800 trucks introduced in 1980. They were made primarily for use as utility trucks to Movable, heavy-duty towing, used in construction and intended to appeal to businesses and municipalities. [1] They are primarily Class 6/7 trucks, but the 2011 F-750 model expanded its range into Class 8 with a GVWR of 37,000 lbs due to frame and chassis upgrades.
The F-650 and F-750 are manufactured in Mexico in a joint venture with Navistar International and Blue Diamond Company LLC trucks. The Ford trucks are built in a Navistar manufacturing plant with an international truck chassis, using Ford cabs and non-international engines (Caterpillar and Cummins diesels, Ford gasoline). With Ford discontinuing the Econoline for 2013, Ford announced production of the F-650 will move from Mexico to Avon Lake, the Ohio assembly plant that formerly built the Econoline.
Design
The F-650 was preceded by the previous generation F-600, F-700, F-800 trucks that were introduced in 1980. These trucks were larger in size than heavy-duty pickup trucks.
The current version (2008-2011) retains the dashboard and introduces the current 1998 cab style interior rather than the revised 2008 F250-550 Duty Super series interior, both Ford (1973 facelift 1967 cab and 1980 cab 1987 and 1991 face lift) and GM (1995 facelift, 1988 cab) have a history of doing this. Ford has announced this year’s 2012 model year will receive an updated interior to bring it in line with current Duty Super trucks.
Aftermarket has made the F-650/F-750 into premium trucks similar to the international CXT by offering various conversions such as four-wheel drive.
Transmission mechanism
Starting with the 2010 model year, there is only one diesel engine option due to Caterpillar’s absence in the off-road-market (OTR). The 6.7 L Cummins B Series (ISB) I-6 diesel engine comes with eight standard and optional ratings, and two craft classes. Ford has announced that the 2012 models will have gasoline and compressed natural gas available for the F-650 6.8 L Ford Modular V-10 engine producing 362 hp and 457 ft lbs of torque and will Mated to the new Ford 6R140 6-speed automatic transmission.
