Kanye West Surprised The World When He Sponsored George Floyd’s Daughter’s Tuition

Rapper Kanye West fully funded the tuition for Gianna Floyd, George Floyd’s six-year-old daughter, to attend college.

On June 4, CNN sources said that Kanye West spent more than 2 million USD to donate to the families of victims of racism. In it, the rapper bought a college tuition funding package (529 education plan) for Gianna Floyd – daughter of George Floyd, the black man who was pinned to death by police.

The remaining money is used to pay legal fees related to cases of people of color being murdered in the US. At the same time, he also sent support to businesses of color that were heavily affected by the epidemic.

On the same day, he took to the streets to protest with a group of people demanding justice for George Floyd in Chicago. He and many students called on schools to cut contracts with the police.

The death of Floyd, 46 years old, started a series of protests and riots across the United States demanding equality for people of African descent. Derek Chauvin, 44 years old, who directly knelt on Floyd’s neck, was fired and charged with second-degree murder. Three of Chauvin’s colleagues were charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and aiding and abetting manslaughter. All four face a maximum prison sentence of 40 years.
